Another!

Last night we found another nest close by with 4 little cute eggs in it! :) I love this!

P.S. For those of you who know I can't seem to make anything grow or keep it alive.... I have 4 little green sprouts!!! I decided to try growing some basil and oregano. And amazingly, it's working!!!

Our Sand Piper

So a little while back we took a walk and found a Sand Piper's Nest. So we have "adopted" it. We check on the eggs and the bird everyday. I really hope that when they hatch we'll get to see the little baby sand pipers...

Sand Pipers are interesting birds. But beautiful. We have been observing the tactics it uses when we get to close. They generally move a way from the nest, then spread out their wings and tail to look bigger. If that doesn't work they move off and act hurt. Which is quite interesting, they do look hurt and then you walk to them, and they move forward really quick and then act hurt again. Tactfully drawing you away from their nest. Plus they are amazing with the camouflage.

So here are the cute little eggs. I think it is interesting they are all oriented the same way.

Here you can see the tail feathers spread out trying to look big.

Then when that doesn't work it moves away and looks hurt.

And if you follow it....

They move further away and continue...

Can you spy the Sand Piper?? :P

So You may notice that I keep using a non-gender specific word to identify the Sand Piper.. Well that is because we aren't sure what it is. We did some reading and the Male does most of the incubating, so we are assuming it is a he.. but we aren't sure....

Summer!

Yay! Summer is finally here. It has been cold and rainy here the last few weeks, with a few sunny-ish days here and there. But today is clear, sunny and hot. Well hot is perspective, so it's probably more just like 80 or so, but it's hot to us!

Summer just makes me happy. The sun is so great to have after a LONG winter. Plus this being my first summer here in Rexburg, gives it a sense of excitement! Not to mention I have my Hubby! Though he is busy with school, work and now more work! :) But that's Daniel for you. His newest project is Setting up the TA position for the CS department. Which is way cool for several reasons.....
1. He gets to develop the course. All of the tests, quizzes etc. Which will be great for getting a job for the school in Grad school.
2. Will then get to teach some. Again helping with a position at grad school...
3. He gets paid!!! Not even close to what his regular job pays him, but the highest the school pays any student working for them!

It's a big project, but will be GREAT for Grad school. If we go to University of Texas in Austin, Which is probably where we will be, Daniel can work for the school. Most of the Grad students do. And if he does he wants to be an Assistant Instructor. Which gets paid pretty well. Plus they would then waive his tuition and he being faculty, makes my credits very, very cheap.

So Daniel found out the CS department has no TA, but was offered to set it up if he wanted to. Daniel wasn't sure if he wanted to do it or not, but in the end it was the right thing to do!

So anyway. Daniel is busy and I am busy keeping up with him. But we do find time to spend time with friends and be together. So all is well. Plus with it warming up, more camping, hiking, biking, etc. :)

Jackson Hole

Saturday Rich, Daniel and I hopped on our motorcycles and took a drive. We rode to Jackson Hole WY. It was a lot of fun. I didn't get a lot of pictures, which is sad because the area we drove to and from Jackson is BEAUTIFUL! But it was kinda chilly and so my hands were in gloves, on the bike and when we did stop, we were talking, stretching or doing something fun, i forgot to take pictures. So here are the few I got.!

This was the Bar we stopped at in Victor. Really good hamburgers! Rich and Daniel were looking at our route.

We rode from Rexburg to Victor to Jackson hole. Then Down to Alpine, down to Swan Valley and back! It was amazing and super fun. It was a great way to spend a Saturday. Though we were a little sore and very tired when we got home. :)

Memorial Weekend

So one of the things we did this weekend was went camping with Daniel's family. It was pretty fun. We had Joye, Ed, Anthony, Hannah, Rich, Ashlee (and her kids) Jaxon, Lexus, Madex, Daniel and I.

While we were camping at Indian Springs, we went to the Humming Bird tagging. It was about 10 miles from where we were camping, but it was cool. They catch the humming birds and tag them. Then they will set them on your hand to fly away. They are soooo tiny and cute. It was amazing to see them still. But this place was swarming with them. You could hear their wings and them making sounds, which is really cute. It's high pitched and still quiet-ish.

Jaxon holding a humming bird. His stayed the longest.
Then Monday we played in the park and did some tennis with Lindsy and Troy. I got sunburnt and all was fun. So it was quite a Memorial weekend!
Much love to all and best wishes!
