Trip to Washington

Hello again! So this last weekend we drove to Washington for our final reception. All went very well. We made it there and back safe. On our way there we saw a sign for a car museum, and said, hey, lets go. So we did. Deer Lodge Montana. Fun little historic city. It happened that the car museum was right there with the old state prison. So we did both. It was way cool. So if any of you pass through there, go!

Daniel and the prison wall... hehe
The wall is 20 feet high, 4 feet thick and goes 4 feet below ground. All built by inmate labor. Like many of the buildings here. Quite impressive though.

One post. They lowered keys down at 3 different points to get up.
Massive doors. they were really thick and heavy.
For really problematic inmates they gave them these shoes to wear. the soles are 10 pounds of cement.

Visiting area
Medical and dentistry room.... ewww.. thank goodness for our good situation!
I had daniel stand here. the door seemed smaller.... but not by much i guess..

The hole was where they had solitary confinement. They gave them bread and water only while here. They could be in here for up to10 days. then got a physical to make sure they were ok and then sent back to life or could be sent back for another 10 days! yuck! And there was no light in there either.

All of the walls were ridiculously thick, this was one of the thickest, but most were at least half. so a good foot or more.
Maximum security.

This was actually pretty creepy. I wouldn't of wanted to be walking around in there with prisoners in the prison. Just creepy and scary.
Here is the start of the car museum.... and mom this is a rumble seat just for you!

First Station Wagon!

This is a replica of the Cobra

And i did get one picture while in Washington. But it was so busy that I don't have more. But it was fun. Crazy but fun. Trying to get everything set up, chasing kids, visiting everyone in the area, etc. but it went very well and lots of fun. It was great to see everyone in Washington and to have a trip out of Rexburg. Though it is nice to be back in my own home, with the regular routine. Good times and fun things! Hope all is well with everyone else!

  1. The prison and museum look fun, but....I was anxiously scrolling through in hopes to see reception pictures - but there were none :( Sad. I guess I will just have to wait for Mom or Annie to update their blogs. Glad you had a good, safe trip!
