Local News

Sorry not the prettiest. I copied and pasted. So I check the local online news everyday, and this is an article I found. I saw it and knew right then it was 2 LDS missionaries. It is a comfort to know they were doing the Lord's work and I'm sure that will be a great blessing to them. May our prayers be with their families.

DONNA, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a driver has surrendered after two Mormon missionaries on bicycles were killed and a third was hurt after being hit by a car in South Texas.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Johnny Hernandez says the victims wore helmets and were using bicycle lights when they were struck by the oncoming car around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Hernandez said Wednesday that it was dark during the wreck in Donna and the driver, from Mexico, ran away but later surrendered at a port of entry. Charges are pending.

A statement from the Mormon church identifies the men who died as 21-year-old Trevor Reinhold Strong of Taylorsville, Utah, and 20-year-oldDerek Jason Walker of Fairfield, Idaho.

Hospital officials say 19-year-old Zachary Todd Harris of Huntsville, Ala., was treated and released.
